Red Ribbon Week 2020

Compass Mark, once again, paired with the Lebanon County Commission on Drug and Alcohol Abuse to distribute red ribbons to school across Lebanon County.  Students will wear the ribbons to help celebrate Red Ribbon Week from October 23^rd through October 31^st.   The Red Ribbon Week Campaign serves to educate youth and promote involvement in drug and alcohol prevention activities.  Most area schools have a series of spirit days to celebrate Red Ribbon Week.

The Red Ribbon Campaign® was started when DEA agent Kiki Camarena was killed by drug traffickers in 1985. This began the continuing tradition of displaying Red Ribbons as a symbol of intolerance towards the use of drugs. The mission of the Red Ribbon Campaign® is to present a unified and visible commitment towards the creation of a drug-free country.

The ribbons are bright red and are emblazoned with this year’s motto “Be Happy, Be Brave, Be Drug Free.”  Josh Mountz, Compass Mark Prevention Specialist, delivered approximately 8000 red ribbons to schools all across Lebanon County!
