This training will address ethical considerations in addiction treatment, specifically gambling addiction. The presentation will include the functions of ethical codes, values/morals and laws impacting the gambling addiction professional, the agency and the client. Case studies will be discussed throughout the course to promote greater understanding of ethical challenges that those working in the field of gambling treatment may encounter. Ethical decision making models will be presented to help guide the practitioner.
By the end of the training, participants will have:
• reviewed ethical codes as guidelines for practitioners;
• identified components of ethical conduct;
• gained knowledge about ethical dilemmas;
• increased awareness of ethical decision making;
• demonstrated understanding by applying the ethics discussed to case studies.
Fee $20. 6 credit hours (PCB included, NASW available). Breakfast and registration at 8:30am; lunch on your own.
