This 3-part series has been rescheduled- see dates. This workshop via Zoom will provide an overview of how to effectively provide support to family members coming to you for advice about their loved ones with substance use disorder (SUD) or any form of addiction. Training includes the role of peers in recovery, how to listen, what to say to encourage recovery, how to grow trust and provide support a well as self-care and boundaries.

Addiction is a chronic relapsing brain disease that demands an understanding of the science so that we can support the behavioral changes that clients need to make.  This training will consider factors that increase an individual’s vulnerability to addiction by exploring the role of genetics and especially the experience of trauma.
