Virtual Event
September 15, 2025
11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Unlike drugs such as heroin, fentanyl, or cocaine, alcohol is a teratogen — a substance that interferes with normal fetal development and causes congenital disabilities. Fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) is an umbrella term used to describe the range of effects and disabilities that can occur in an individual with prenatal alcohol exposure. Conservative estimates are that 1% – 5% of U.S. first-graders have an FASD — 1 or 2 children in every classroom — yet few are diagnosed.
This free workshop via Zoom by Proof Alliance will cover:
- The impact of prenatal alcohol exposure on attention, behavior, learning, language, memory & physical health
- Characteristics of the FASDs: from fetal alcohol syndrome to alcohol related birth defects
- Strategies on supporting individuals with FASD
- FASD resources you can utilize
