Augustus was an athlete all his life and grew up the oldest of 3 children in a happy family. When he got to college, a football injury left him paralyzed, lost, and addicted to opiates. Depressed and nearly dead, Augustus was then blessed with the gift of faith and it changed his life immediately and for the better. Now, he works for a non-profit where he spreads this message of hope to young people in need of it in any way, and shares how recovery is not only for the addicted person.

In this two-part series, participants will learn how and why addiction is considered a family disease. Each person will create a genogram; a graphic representation of a family tree that displays detailed data on relationships among individuals. It goes beyond a traditional family tree by allowing the user to analyze hereditary patterns and psychological factors that punctuate relationships.
