Prevention 101 is a 2-day, 10-hour training which provides a catalyst for understanding how primary prevention of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs (ATOD) is defined and implemented in PA. This is a required course within one year of hire for prevention specialists.
Part 1 (May 31st) provides an overview of prevention and its evolution, as well as an introduction of skills, competencies, and data driven decision making to understanding the Spectrum of Prevention and the basics of the Strategic Prevention Framework Model.
Part 2 (June 1st) expands on the basics by guiding participants through an in-depth presentation of the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) and applying it to a case study in the field.
Fee is $20 (waived for SCA-contracted prevention agencies located in Lancaster County.) You may pay at the door with cash or checks made out to “Compass Mark.”
Registration & breakfast begin at 8:30, lunch is on your own. 10 credit hours.
