Has a congregational member asked you for help for a loved one struggling with addiction, but you weren’t sure what to do? Have you wanted to address alcohol and drug abuse prevention for youth and parents in your congregation but didn’t know where to start? GOAL Project will come alongside you to train, equip, and sustain an addiction prevention and recovery ministry so that you feel more confident in knowing what to say and do to help bring healing and wellness to your local community.
IN-PERSON workshop- masks must be worn. GOAL Project will be following CDC guidelines for social distancing and cleaning/sanitizing surfaces.
This workshop, presented in English and Spanish, will quip religious leaders (both clergy and laity) with information to take the next steps in developing a congregational addiction prevention and recovery support team ministry run by lay leaders. You will leave this workshop able to:
- Understand the role of the congregation in addressing opiate and other substance use disorders;
- Identify barriers and demonstrating specific steps to initiate an effective team ministry;
- Recognize the roles and expectations of congregational leadership (both clergy and laity);
- Explain the work of a prevention and recovery support ministry team.
Who Should Attend? Clergy person and 2 to 3 laity & staff.
