Twenty-five years ago, Phyllis Spencer joined Compass Mark as a secretary. Today, she’s our Director of Administration, a member of the senior management team, and one of our greatest assets. This month, we celebrated her anniversary, and we’d 
like to take this opportunity to, once again, thank her again for all of her hard work over the years and always being an advocate for the organization.
As the Director of Administration, Phyllis is responsible for accounts payable/receivable, payroll, fiscal reporting, annual budget preparation, ensuring office operations run efficiently, and other operational tasks. However, that’s certainly not all she brings to the table. Phyllis also has wisdom and unique insight from her many, many years of experience at Compass Mark, said Eric Kennel, Executive Director.
“She is definitely our resident expert when it comes to any questions about our history as an organization!” he said.
Kennel also spoke highly of Phyllis for “her incredible attention to detail, her skills with Microsoft Office — especially Excel formulas, and her eagerness to be a public advocate for Compass Mark. [In fact,] our current board chair got involved on the board through a conversation that Phyllis had with him at a coffee shop,” he said.
Phyllis is proud to contribute to an organization that makes a difference in the community.
“I find it rewarding to belong to an agency that has a long history of undertaking important and vital work in our community,” she said. “It is a privilege holding a position that supports a passionate and committed staff. These past 25 years at Compass Mark have afforded me the opportunity to grow and take on more of a leadership role. It’s a large part of my life, and I feel quite fortunate.”
