8:30am – 10:00am Event
Since 2017—with the advent of online gambling, sports betting, and now artificial intelligence in PA—gambling problems in our state have risen exponentially. There are 3 pathways to co-morbidity between substance use (SUD), mental health (MH), and gambling (GD) disorders:
- MH issues contribute to gambling and substance use
- Substance use contributes to gambling and MH issues
- Gambling contributes to substance use and MH issues
And rates of the three disorders co-occurring are high:
- 79% of ppl with GD in recovery have an alcohol use disorder
- 72% of ppl with GD in recovery have a mood disorder
- 46% of clients in SUD treatment meet criteria for a gambling disorder
We’re pleased to present a panel discussion by local clinicians, focusing on recent prevalence of PA gambling problems; gambling as it pertains to clients with SUD and MH issues; and solutions for stemming the tide of our gambling epidemic. This will be followed by an extended Q&A period, and short presentation on certification options. Experts include:
