When it comes to problems with alcohol and other drugs, help comes in many forms:
- Inpatient Treatment: Inpatient treatment is a residential approach to treatment where the client resides in a treatment facility during the course of treatment. Inpatient treatment can be short, medium, or long-term and usually involves intensive counseling as well as other services that support recovery.
- Outpatient Treatment: Outpatient treatment is non-residential, although partial residential programs are also included in this category.
- Emergency Help: This category includes immediate help, such as emergency services and helplines.
- Self-Help Groups: Local contact information for Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Al-Anon/Alateen, Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Adult Children Of Alcoholics (ACoA), Nar-Anon, and Step to Freedom (Christian-based)

The Lancaster County Drug & Alcohol Commission and the providers that serve women shall provide preference to pregnant women. The Drug & Alcohol Commission and providers which serve injecting drug abuse clients shall give preference to treatment as follows:
- Pregnant injecting drug users;
- Pregnant substance abusers;
- Injecting drug users; and
- All others
